Where’s My Championship Manager?! 5/7/05
I love to write positive reviews, I really do. Read my Pro Evolution Soccer
4 Platinum PS2 one. It's great, it's happy, my experience of this game
 is not.
Don't get me wrong, the reason it has 3 stars (and that's very generous)
is because newbies will love it. They will love the depth, they will love the detail, the playability, the long-lasting appeal etc. All you Champ Man heads will know where I'm going with this.
If I had never laid my gaming eyes on Championship Manager 2, Season 97-98, Season 99/00, 00/01 and 01/02 you would probably be reading a different review. I'm writing this review because I know there will be old Champ Man addicts like me desperate for an updated fix. But I must warn you this game IS DIFFERENT. Simple as. It took me Champ Man 4, Season 03/04 and FM to realize this.
For one, I don't like the 2D match engine. Never have, never will, the old way was better. I like the manager interaction, it's a brilliant feature. There is no doubt the game has lost none of its engrossing nature, but it just doesn't feel the same.
Don't make the same mistake, if you have no affiliation with the old Champ Man games, buy it, enjoy it, love it. If you do, I suggest you keep waiting, this is NOT the game we used to know. I have no doubt that a future installment will see a return to form. Until then, save your pennies. 3/5 Amazon stars
