Text Box: The Winners The Losers
Hull City got a fantastic win over Fulham, with Geovanni proving Man. City were wrong to let him get away. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all got off to winning starts, though Wenger’s outfit were slightly off-form but won’t be complaining with the three points.
Blackburn and West Ham surprised with opening triumphs. If Moyes thinks Andre Ooijer’s winner was suspect, he should perhaps look at the free-kick his team were awarded for Arteta’s effort. Bolton and Aston Villa disposed of difficult opposition to get their points on the board. And finally NE rivals Middlesbrough and Newcastle got fantastic results against the odds– the former holding the Champions to a gritty draw.

no doubt agree that they need firepower and fast. Alex himself has admitted as much. So at a club like United which wisely judges on Premiership track record rather than foreign reputation, which current Premier League hotshot would you gamble on? A moody Bulgarian whose head is so in the clouds he was both dropped and upstaged by Mido when he did come on? Or maybe a tenacious predator who has seen off the threat of South African star, Benni McCarthy to take over the mantle decorated by the likes of Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton (when he was worth £5m).
Tottenham need a striker, Barca don’t want Eto’o, Berba wants out. Man Utd need a class act who will score when he’s in-form and off it. The only question remaining is whether Chairman John Williams would flog his prize asset from under his new manager’s nose. Sadly Blackburn are a selling club, but a fee in excess of £20m for a player who cost 1/5 of that should not be sniffed at. Plus, they’ve always got Benni!

(1 point for each correct part of score, 1 point for correct result)
A miserable start for Chriso as I amass a mighty 8/30 for week 1, gaining a 2/3 for Chelsea Vs Portsmouth, somewhat underestimating my team’s firepower... The phrase “stick to what you know” is not appropriate!

So who actually believed Sir Alex was all tucked up in his Executive Seat at Ewood Park on Saturday to pay homage to the latest success from his Managerial X Factor?!

Anyone who saw United yesterday will

EPL Week 1 Winners and Losers

A bad opening day at the office for Tottenham– outclassed by mediocre Boro. Man United need a goal-scorer, the absences of Rooney and Ronaldo added to first game syndrome results in an uncharacteristically bad home draw start.

Everton got shocked by Blackburn at home, Fulham were similarly lacklustre against debutants, Hull- Zoltan Gera had a shocker, perhaps he should consider shooting with his right foot.

Portsmouth– out-of-form and unready, tanked by Chelsea.
