2008: The Year in Review Awards
If you’re talking successful years and meteoric rises than considering Cole began the
year as the cheated wife, she
’s had a phenomenally successful year as the Nation’s “sweetheart”. How Dannii Minogue won that Metro poll I shall never know. As for Britney,
back on top but still a lonely girl, she had a good year.
Donut of the Year: Kerry Katona, Sharon Stone
Well she was declared bankrupt, her husband allegedly fathered a child and she
annoyed all as the face of Iceland... how does she find the time to raise those
kids? Mrs. Stone not only blamed Katrina on karma but also allegedly demanded
her eight-year-old son had Botox injections to cure his whiffy feet... she lost
custody.
Scoop of the Year: Ramsay Scandal, Man. City Takeover
Everyone’s favourite Sunday paper was on top form - paying over the odds for everything.
Gordon Ramsay
’s affair was probably the most shocking one.
Best Film: The Dark Knight, Changeling
Angelina Jolie proved she’s not just a pretty face but the late Heath Ledger blew all away, stealing the
show from Christian Bale in an epic film.
In the year in which reality went a bit stupid, Lee McQueen and his pterodactyl
won the day against superbitch, Clare. It was just a great year for Sir. Alan
’s show. As for Piers, some top interviews with Bruce Jones, Mickey Rourke and
Jim Davidson.
Best Reality: The X-Factor, Big Brother 9
Whilst Darren van Day and the rest of his jungle chums were up to no good, BB
had a good year with scandals aplenty, but Cowell
’s show won the day with great entertainment.
Worst TV Moment: Rachel Rice/BB9, George Sampson/BGT
It was a bad day to be Welsh as possibly the most boring, dull and pointless
(not to mention coniving) BB contestant scooped the
£100k. Andrew and Gin the dog robbed as dancing boy somehow scoops the BGT gong.
Worst TV of the Year: Kerry Katona: Crazy in Love, Katie & Peter - The Next Chapter
Best Gameshow: Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Deal or No Deal
Good year for Noel with themed weeks. Buzzcocks started strongly before fading
into obscurity as Simon Amstell possibly got bored...
Game of the Year: GTA IV, Football Manager 2009
Maybe I’m biased though not many will disagree with the fantastic GTA.
Best Soap: EastEnders, Hollyoaks
EastEnders went for the juggular with big-name returns, sex scandals, murders
and one paedophile... fantastic TV!
