A New Dawn or a False Dawn? Can One Man Make a Difference?
On Tuesday America elected its new President and the successor to one who will probably go down as the worst, so can Barack Obama really bring change to the American people?

He’s Batman, Superman and Captain America rolled into one, or so the USA
may lead you to believe. Not only is he going to solve the problems
in Afghanistan and Iraq but he’s also going to solve the Credit Crisis.

Like Bush before him, Obama will no doubt enjoy a prolonged honeymoon
period that is rather parallel to say, Harry Redknapp taking the Spurs job-
roughly  translated that’s- everything’s screwed so you can’t possibly do any worse,  or so you would hope.

Mr. Obama’s PR machine are so good that in the week preceeding the             Election it actually managed to circulate stories and therefore convince the masses that white extremists actually preferred him to John McCain. And              the worst part? Yes, people actually believed that. I have spoken to several people in the run-up to the US Election who assured me that the Obama bandwagon could only be derailed if the extremists and the general
21st-Century-challenged voted en masse to prevent it. So if anyone actually
read those reports and didn’t see it for the PR whitewash it was, my
thoughts are with you.

Rather like a political gypsy, Obama’s career is littered with meteoric rises to power in of course, very short spaces of time. There ’s nothing wrong with that of course as undoubtedly he must be doing something right to inspire such improvized confidence, but you wonder whether he actually does finish a job.

As for the race card, give me a break. There may be extremists in America but they are not just confined to there. I guess in many ways it could be seen as the final racial barrier to be broken down as 24 rather spookily predicted, but for
me it’s merely coincidence and I’m sure that wasn’t Obama’s motive- especially with the fact that he is not from a predominantly black background.
So good luck Barack, let’s hope the action matches the talk, for your sake. CM
