Text Box: Text Box: Text Box: Saturday 2nd August I Declare War on Today, I declare war on Tesco. Why? Oh I’ll tell you why... As we all know, times are tough, the so-called ’Credit Crunch’ is pushing prices of both fuel, energy, amenities, as well as the everyday essentials. One set of retailers who will be feeling the pinch less than most are those supermarket conglomerates, who we already know, are pretty well off anyway. So what do we expect from these faceless corporations in such times? Well how about ’every little helps’. Tesco first came to my attention just after I started this site, you may recall I was enraged at hearing the likes of rich Scottish muppet thespian, James Nesbitt voicing over about “feeling the pinch”- could that be anymore insulting? Well, actually yes. Tesco ran an advert last night highlighting the price of their Utterly Butterly- £1.20 at Asda apparently... Right... £1.20 at Tesco... Great, and? Ah but at Tesco’s every thing you buy you’ll save (and I’m not joking here) yes A PENNY with a ClubCard. Cue the 1p rolling across the screen. Yes Tesco will save you the lowest possible English sterling tender, on everything... So then we’re reminded, “It’s not what you spend, but what you save.” Cue the pile of pennies (couldn’t be more than £5). If you’re not outraged by that, I would ask you why. How dare this multi-billion pound business insult our intelligence. That whole advert was basically saying “we have a loyalty card and Asda don’t hahahaha”. It’s outrageous. And what’s more outrageous is the fact there are gullible people out there who will now think Tesco is cheaper. It’s not on, supermarkets should be helping customers, not tricking them into spending more money. They should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves and their high prices.
